Sara Lira

Senior (2015):  

Started all 53 games and set the single-season home run record at SMC with 12 home runs. Finished the year with a .241 average and a team-high 30 RBI… three of her first four hits of the season went for home runs… hit home runs in four straight games against Utah State, Boise State, Montana and Portland State… had a big home run at Stanford going 2-for-4 with three RBI in the win over the Cardinal… did not pitch during senior year.

Junior (2014):  

Helped the Gaels with her bat and in the circle throughout the year, earning NFCA third-team honors and a WCC Pitcher of the Week award… In the circle, Lira went 7-8 with a 2.47 ERA… in 107.2 innings, she allowed 38 earned runs, struck out 25 and held opponents to a .280 average… she had three complete games and a save… she earned WCC and SMC Pitcher of the Week honors after leading the Gaels to a 4-1 win over No. 23 California at Cottrell Field.

Sophomore (2013): 

Appeared in 50 games, starting 49 ... Served primarily as SMC's starting first baseman, but also made 16 appearances in the circle, going 0-9 with a 5.77 ERA ... Finished the season with a .209 batting average, tying for sixth in SMC single-season history with seven home runs ... Second on the team with 24 RBI ... Also had six doubles and one triple to lead the team with 14 extra-base hits ... Led the team with a .399 slugging percentage ... Fielded her position well, ending the season with a .983 fielding percentage 

Freshman (2012): 

Went 2-2 on the mound in 10 appearances and six starts with a 3.80 ERA ... pitched 27.2 innings for the season ... was 1-for-9 at the plate with a triple, an RBI and a run scored ... went 1-0 with a save and a 3.50 ERA in two PCSC appearances ... pitched 4.0 innings against No. 1 California on April 11.

High School: 

Gilroy, Calif. where she attended Gilroy High School...the 5'11 pitcher and first baseman earned four letters in softball...was named first team all-league and to the All-State Second Team following her senior year...hit .324 with 24 RBI and seven homeruns during senior season and helped her team to a runner-up finish in the CCS Championship.
